LOOKS FOR BOOKS FASHION SHOW.
On August 15th 2009 ILL-LA-LA DESIGNS would be hosting it's first fashion show benefit themed "LOOKS FOR BOOKS". This event will not only create an opportunity for the designer Sheila Denanyoh to promote her line but an opportunity for her to raise money for a cause close to her heart.
THE CAUSE:
In the village of Leklebi-Duga (Ghana, West Africa) are underprivileged school going children between the ages of 4 and 15 that attend the Evangelical Presbyterian school. These children though attend school on a regular basis lack basic educational needs such as notebooks, pens, pencils, etc. but still find it important to be in a classroom; so in the fall of 2008 Sheila with the help of family and friends and dear professor Dr. Garrison managed to involve the Kent state community in the collection and shipping of thousands of school supplies to the children of Leklebi-Duga.
Upon arrival to this village Sheila realized the children other needs. There was a lack of adequate reading books for them and they did not have a library.
"LOOKS FOR BOOKS" is an opportunity to help raise money and collect books for these children. With $10 or $5 and 2 children books guests would enjoy a one of a kind fashion show by ILL-LA-LA DESIGNS and get acquainted with the children through slide shows and videos. An after party will follow.
All profits will go toward this cause.
Thank you.
